Before admission, applicants will have to undergo a medical examination by the Ashram’s physician or from the affiliated hospital to rule out infectious diseases or medical conditions beyond the care of the Ashram. If in the opinion of the physician the applicant is in need of ‘assisted living,’ admission will be allowed only if the applicant agrees to the employment of an attendant for his/her care. Expenses for the caregiver will have to be borne by the applicant.
The Ashram’s physician is available to the residents for free consultations and medicines for common day-to-day ailments. All other medicines prescribed by the physician will have to be paid for by the residents. If hospitalization is required, the Ashram will inform the next-of-kin and then shift the resident to any suitable hospital nearby. The next-of-kin may consult the Ashram while being responsible for looking after the resident. The resident may return to the Senior Citizens’ Home on being discharged from the hospital.
